We honour Black Heritage Month with meaningful activities and learning opportunities throughout February. Our students will explore themes of identity, culture, and the many contributions of Black Canadians. Highlights include:
-
- Door Exhibit: Every classroom will showcase a prominent Black Canadian, turning our hallways into a powerful celebration of Black excellence. These displays will highlight the achievements and contributions of Black Canadians, offering students a meaningful way to learn about and appreciate their impact on history and society.
- Tune Tuesday: This is an exciting opportunity for students to explore the rich legacy of Black artists through music! Every Tuesday, throughout February, students will listen to a song by a featured artist and engage in fun, thought-provoking trivia questions designed to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the music and its cultural significance.”
- Black Excellence Periodic Table: The Black Excellence Periodic Table will be proudly displayed in the front hallway, celebrating the achievements of Black pioneers in science, the arts, medicine, and more. This interactive and educational display is designed to inspire students, spark curiosity, and highlight the incredible contributions of Black innovators throughout history.
- Black, Red, and Green Day: On February 21st, students are encouraged to wear Pan African colours, Black, Red, and Green to celebrate Black History Month! These colours represent unity, pride, and heritage, making this a meaningful way for our school community to honour Black history and culture together.”
